House Hunting

Yesterday we spent a few hours to look around Serangoon and kovan area for a suitable house for ourself. Went to one corner terrace in Serangoon Gardens, where ZY tripped upon entry while I stepped into a drain, bad place haha. Next went to Lange 28, nice new cluster home with ID done up going for $1,150,000. While at Sovereign and The Top at Simon Place (behind Kovan MRT), both going at $1,350,000(both about 2650 Sq ft). Last at Daisy Ave for $1,600,000. Went to see two terrace home at Jalan Kayu and YCK Road, Going for about $1.7 Mil. Too far and no money to buy. haha...

Considering the Lange 28 one which could be offered at $1mil while at The Top for $1.15mil. Will wait and see how much more the Private Property will crash in the next quarter. Concurrently looking for a HDB at Serangoon area only. Hmm. 5 Room at about $400k and Mansionette at a high of $500k...will wait and see for a good buy...after CNY will be more appropriate.

Edwin's Code of Conduct

Past Glory and Success you have done are Good and will be remembered.

Living on Past Glory and Success will buy you some time.

Over Glorify your Past Success will make you stagnate.

Continue with that Attitude, will prevent you from having new Glory and Success.

Not changing that Attitude, you will no longer be making History but become a HISTORY yourself!

Everyone is given a fair chance (be it BIG or small), it's how you embrace and make it a successful story for oneself.

Old Chang Kee & MM Lee Guidelines

"THE DAY
you can't adjust and change,
That Day,
you begin to shrivel and die...that's all.

THE DAY
I'm unable to learn new things,
I'm out of touch with the world,
then I'm useless."

Policy & Doctrine - My Own Working Guidelines

  1. Policy-making to be made more real as I am dealing with People affected by them.
  2. Make me more aware of the need to listen to People and to communicate clearly and directly without sounding overly defensive of the policies or being high-handed.
  3. But please take note when dealing with ignorance People who know nuts but just want to make things difficult for all.
  4. Constantly try to educate them!
  5. Using the 90/10 followed by the 5/5 grouping.
  • 90% will understand and agreed while 10% will disagree with the initial change
  • then work on the 10% which another 5% will eventually understand and you get 95%.
  • forget about the last 5% as they either really have a better idea which I hope or just hopelessly in another world of their own.
Lastly, you might as well use your time and energy to follow up with the 95% who agreed with you and then further enhance your policy based on their feedback; instead of spending it on the 5% and neglect your 95%.

Sisters & Brothers.

At my House on the wedding morning together with our four Sisters and seven Brothers!

Towards a New Future

Collected our new spectacles yesterday at Yi Specs @ Punggol Plaza. Zhenyuan's a pair of Shiny Dark Red while mine is Shiny Gun Metal Color pair. Both are half frame with 1.67 thin Plastic Lens. Bought it for her Birthday and Christmas present. Got a good deal again as a regular customer, would have cost us $700 for both pairs but paid only $500 instead. Now We're both looking forward a new horizon through a new pair of "sight" on us. HA HA!

Time Management

  • Introduction
Help accomplish your personal goals by trying these practical tips for using your time effectively.

  • Plan
Planning can be divided into long and short term. Long term planning can go from one to five years. This is the planning that gives overall direction towards goals.

Short term planning include one month planning, that enables you to notice possible crises before they occur, and weekly and daily planning, which increase your general effectiveness.

  • Prioritize
We prioritize our personal life goals by whether we think we do or not. When you say "I don't have time", you are really saying " I choose to do something else with my time." When assigning priority consider the Value versus Urgency.

Tasks that have significant value may not have immediate deadlines, but do have eventual impact of great importance on the accomplishment of your goals.

Urgent items can easily get most of your focus, at the expense of the higher, long term value task. Try to take small steps on the value list each week.

  • Schedule
Make to do lists that encourage you to balance different kinds of needs.

- What I should do vs What I want to do - Don't leave out either responsibility or pleasure.
- Things to do for me vs Things I do for them - Not taking care of yourself will limit your efficiency.
- What's valuable vs What's Urgent - Remember that valuable uses of time may include keeping up your important friendships/ relationships.
- Include the preceding factors when making your to DO lists. Rate each item from 1-5, in order of importance to you.

Break up large jobs into smaller ones. For example, when writing a paper, schedule separate time to collect resources, read the materials, write an outline, compose the paper, edit, and put on the finishing touches.

Use your biological rhythms, Notice the time of day when your energy is high, and schedule your more demanding work at that time.

  • Curtails "Time Bandits"
- Personal email - Limits the number of times you check it daily, as well as time spent on replies.
- Personal Internet Use - Set a timer for 30 minutes to stay aware of how much time is passing.
- Phone /SMS - Try to wait to call back/ message when you have a break. If you do answer when it comes in, tell your friends you will call them back later. They will still like you!
- Distractions - Eliminate as many audio/visual distractions as you can. Choose places and times to work when others are busy with quiet activities or gone.
Errands - Working in small errands daily will help you avoid having to spend a whole day doing weekly "catching up".
- Procrastination - A common complaint.

  • Notice Each Day's Accomplishment
sometimes it is easier to focus on what we didn't get done each day. Make a habit of giving yourself credit for what you did.
